A majority of Americans are opposed to what’s in the massive budget bill that was passed by Congress, which is making Trump and Republicans scared and desperate to hang on to their slim majority in congress. Their solution: rig the 2026 elections by redrawing congressional districts to favor Republicans.
It’s time to level the playing field.
Prop. 50 fights fire with fire, countering the election rigging taking place in Texas and other Republican-led states. We must ensure fair representation in congress and make sure we have the power to block their attempts at more cuts to healthcare and essential services.
Here’s what Prop. 50 would do:
- Temporarily change congressional district boundaries to favor electing Democrats, countering the redistricting already done in Texas.
- Keep our commitment to redistricting reform. We would still have California’s Citizen Redistricting Commission, and after the 2030 census, the commission would again be in charge of creating fair district boundaries for our state.
- Ensure fair representation in congress and to give us the power to stop them from making even more cuts to healthcare and essential services.
